Today, we are looking for a full-time Project Engineer - Aerodynamic Design & Simulations.
Propulsion related projects are in the forefront of the VKI research portfolio. The Project Engineer will be responsible of the design of various components, including inlets, nozzles, by-pass ducts etc., for various propulsion system architectures enabling supersonic and hypersonic aviation in the framework of multiple civil and military platforms. The incumbent will also take an active role on the management of certain project tasks and reporting to the customers. The project engineer will have frequent interactions with our experts, project managers (to prepare and follow the projects), as well as with our support departments. Interest in business development is an asset.
Your responsibilities
- collaborate with the Project Office, Faculty and Assets & Resources for all technical aspects of the projects.
- take the lead in multiple engineering activities related to his/her fields of knowledge.
- contribute and/or take the lead to one/more proposals & projects of the Project Office.
- ensure a continuous knowledge and expertise exchange at the institute.
- report the progress and results of the project to the customer.
- seek new customers for the aerodynamic design activities.
Main activities
- Support one/multiple activities within proposals and/or projects under the coordination of different project leaders and partners.
- Collaborate proactively with the Project Office, Faculty, and Assets and resources to progress on his/her assignments.
- Report the status of the proposal/project activities to the respective Project Manager(s).
- Contribute to the development and growth of one/more Research Expertise Groups (REGs) by maintaining his/her technical skills up to date.
- He/she will be required to take technical leadership of one/more proposals and/or projects within the department.
Job requirements
You are a highly motivated and enthusiastic person with a passion for scientific research. You can work independently as well as part of a team. You are result-oriented, have good communication skills and have a pragmatic approach.
- Master in Engineering Sciences in fluid dynamics (or other relevant field of interest for the institute).
- Strong team spirit.
- Good organizational skills (time management, priority management).
- Problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and follow deadlines.
- Able to write state-of-the-art technical reports and prepare state-of-the-art presentation slides.
- Good written & oral communication in technical English. Knowledge of French is an asset.
